The actions of carriers in national and international road transport are regulated by the provisions of the Road Transport Act of September 6, 2001. Vehicles used in domestic road transport require registration in said country.

As a result of strict control by Road Transport Inspection (RTI), who rigorously enforce road traffic regulations, especially the axle load of vehicles carrying cargo, we emphasize the need to comply with weight limits. Failure to comply with obligatory regulations results in high financial penalties and severe administrative penalties imposed on carriers, shippers and freight forwarders.

The road transport of container and other cargo allows for the total mass of the set to equal 40t (permittable axle load is 8 tons, 10 tons and 11.5 tons, depending on the category of the road). The exception is a three-axle tractor and three-axle semi-trailer carrying a 40' ISO container in combined transport – which can be up to 44 tons. Containers loaded evenly with one type of cargo should not exceed the following cargo weights:

The weight limit for tarpaulin transport in Poland amount to a maximum of 24 tons gross of cargo.

Failure to comply with applicable regulations involves additional costs of purchasing extra permits or having to unload cargo from containers. These costs are covered by the client. To avoid these additional costs, we suggest already taking into account the applicable weight limits when preparing contracts for the import/export of goods to and from Poland.
